How do I spend my Bitcoins?

As highlighted above, merchants accepting Bitcoin have inbuilt processes which give you all the information you need to complete your transaction.

A recipient Bitcoin address is shown to you, along with the amount required. You should then send this amount indicated by the merchant from your wallet to that address. Some merchants also provide QR codes for use with mobile payments.

The same process applies when purchasing a gift card, commodity or funding a gaming account, for example.

When making a payment in person, you will most likely be using a mobile device, in which case a scan of a QR code is that’s needed in order to commence the payment process from your wallet.

It is also possible to send Bitcoin transactions via SMS and even email, but these methods have so far not made inroads into in-person merchant transaction settings.
